Toni Zimmerman, PhD received her undergraduate degree from the Ohio University in Psychology. She returned to Radford University where she received her Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology where she got involved in research for her Master’s Thesis. She worked as a therapist and taught at Antioch University in Ohio in their Psychology Department.
In discovering her love for counseling, research, and teaching she decided to pursue her PhD with the goal of being on the faculty of a major university. She obtained her PhD in Family and Child Development with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy from Virginia Tech. Professor Zimmerman, who joined CSU’s faculty in 1991, directs the nationally recognized Marriage and Family Therapy program. The program oversees the Center for Family and Couple Therapy, which provides high-quality therapy services to families, couples, individuals, adolescents, and children from across northern Colorado. Internationally recognized for her work in marriage and family therapy, diversity and social justice, and mentoring at-risk youth, Toni has published more than 100 journal articles and chapters and frequently presents at national and international conferences.
